Adam Kalungi, the key suspect in the death of former Butaleja Woman MP, Cerinah Nebanda in December 2012 has been released after the High Court in Kampala dropping charges of manslaughter against him.
Kalungi has been serving a 4 year sentence at Luzira prison after he was convicted by the Makindye Magistrates court for the death of former Butaleja Woman MP, Cerinah Nebanda.
High Court judge, Lameck Mukasa, in his ruling said that the Makindye Magistrate court did not critically evaluate the evidence brought against the accused.
Mukasa said Kalungi is a procurement officer and could not have treated Nebanda since he is not a medical doctor.
He further said the accused did his best by calling in doctors, as well as giving the late Nebanda first aid.
