Makerere University has announced that that it is to maintain the 10 percent increase on tuition for new students. The university spokesperson, Ritah Namisango told the press on Tuesday morning that the increase is due to the increase in the prices and services across the country and will not be altered.
Makerere last increased the tuition fees in 2009 and has retained them up to now. Speaking on behalf of the students, the university Guild President Ivan Bwowe says the increase is unfair since it was never even reflected in better services at the university from 2009.
