The deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah has attacked parliament for wasting a lot of time in discussing politics and live developmental issues.
While addressing journalists at parliament today, Oulanyah said that
first of all Uganda parliament is over represented compared to other
countries parliaments but has not achieved anything in discussing
He said that Uganda parliament has 386 MPs but all of them focus on
politics and live economic issues which is a big problem affecting the
He said that parliament should change its attitude and transform from
politics all the time and start debating developmental issues.
“We have portrayed our country. We may need to have genuine debate on
important issues but not politics all the time yet people are battling
with unemployment and rampant poverty. MPs should present Uganda like
other countries” He added.
He further attacked investors who come to Uganda with empty briefcases.
“Am wondering why many of investors who come to Uganda come with empty briefcases. These people so called investors come here and borrow
money from our banks to start businesses.Government must look into
this issue seriously” He said.
Elsewhere Mr Oulanyah also complained to why the central bank business
rates is at 11% yet in other countries like German the highest
business rates is 2% per annum.The top executive of the central bank
should look into this matter to enable Ugandans get loans for both
mortgage and businesses for better transformation of this country.
