Members of White Ribbon Alliance have urged president Museveni to reflect health issues in the 2014/15 budget since he did not mention about health sector during the recent state of the nation address.

The organization project manager Samuel Ssenfuka while engaging with the media during the break first meeting held at Imperial Royale hotel today, he said that president Museveni surprised the country when he did not talk about the health sector yet it is a crucial sector in this country.
“When you look at the previous state of address of 2013, the president brought the issue of maternal maturity as a big challenge to the country and he committed himself to deal with it but during the 2014
address, we all expected to hearing from him how far he has worked on the maternal maturity issues but instead, he totally remained silent on what government has done to fulfill its commitment on reducing
maternal and new born deaths” Mr Ssenfuka said.

“We want the president to reflect maternal health issue in the coming budget by providing additional funding of 28 billion shillings to recruit 648 health workers in health centers 2,3 and 4”He added.

He further urged government to provide more funding of 13bshs to enhance restoration of allowance for midwives at health centers 3 and 4 and district hospitals and district health officers.
