Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa is set to take over as UN General Assembly President.Kutesa  is uncontested for the appointment.

If Kutesa remains uncontested he will be appointed as President of the General Assembly from June 11. According to reports in The Guardian Kutesa was chosen by the African Union as their candidate to chair the assembly.

However ,Milton Allimadi publisher of the New York-based Black Star News has started a petition asking Secretary of State John Kerry to deny Kutesa’ visa into the United States suggesting his appointment as General Assembly President would do irreparable damage to the UN because of his stand on homosexuality .
