A nurse who injected a 2-year-old baby with HIV has been convicted and sentenced to a three-year imprisonment.
Court presided over by Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya on Monday convicted and sentenced Rosemary Namubiru after she was found guilty of unlawfully spreading HIV to an innocent child.
Prosecution led by Lillian Omara told court that Namubiru unlawfully and negligently injected a baby with a needle contaminated with her HIV blood while knowing the action could likely spread the infection of HIV, a disease dangerous to life.
The nurse committed the offence on January 17, 2014 at Victoria Medical Center in Kampala.
