The junior minister for internal affairs James Baba has  assured parliament that he will table a report before parliament explaining why police fired tear gas to pposition leaders and their fans in Luwero during the nomination of Brenda Nabukenya.

“Madam Speaker and honorable members, am going to find out and report back to the house to why police fired tear gas to  opposition leaders in Luwero district “The minister confirmed.

The minister’s assurance came after the DP secretary General who also represents Bukoto South in parliament ,Mathias Nsubuga demanded for an explanation to why police chose to  fire tear gas and fire live bullets in thousands of opposition fans who had gone to witness the nomination of their candidate Brenda Nabukenya.

“Madam speaker am demanding for an explanation from government to why the opposition leaders who included the former DP bosses Pula Ssmwogerere, John Ssebana,Col Kiza Besigye,Gen Muntu among others were tear gassed by the police in Luwero”

Meanwhile the minister of justice and constitutional affairs Kahinda Otafire told the house that, government needs free and fair elections adding that there was a reason why police used  tear gas to handle  the opposition during Luwero nominations.

“Police cannot just come out and start tear gassing people without a reason” Minister Otafire said.
