Japan is said to be one of the oldest countries in the world .Many theories point to the fact that Japan was founded in 660 BC by Emperor Jimmu who started a line of emperors that remains to this day.

Other traditional stories claim that Jimmu was the direct descendent of the sun goddess Amatetasu. He was born on 13 February 711 BCE and died on 11 March 585 BCE.

China celebrates 221 BCE as its founding year. At this time Qin Shi Huang became China’s first emperor.However it was not until the Han Dynasty in the third century CE that a unified Chinese culture and tradition developed. The Republic of China was founded in 1912 and the People’s Republic of China came into existence in 1949.

Egypt is also considered among the oldest countries in the world though it was not originally an independent single state. A unified kingdom was founded in Egypt in 3150 BC by King Menes with the unification of lower and Upper Egypt, and the dynasties that followed ruled the country for the next three thousand years.

San Marino
San Marino which is one of the smallest countries in Europe claims to be the world’s oldest republic. It was founded by a Christian stonemason named Marinus on September 3, 301.The country also boasts of having the oldest written constitution. San Marino adopted a written constitution in 1600.
