By our reporter

War has erupted among NRM members over the party outreach program scheduled next week. The coordinating committee of seven members wants only the constituency MPs to go for the program.

During yesterday’s meeting about the program, one of the coordinating committee members suggested that since the outreaches are going to be conducted at sub-counties, woman MPs should not be involved.

“I propose that all women MPs be given only 2Mshs for fuel to accompany area MPs and talk to people since we are not going deep in villages over the matter. We should only consider constituencies MPs since they are the bosses of sub-counties” a member proposed

One of the women MPs however told our reporter that, they (Women MPs) are going to abandon this program because they are not wives of male MPs to accompany them. “We are ready to boycott this program.Male MPs are voted as well as women MPs.We should also be given the same facilitation if the party (NRM) wants us (Women MPs) to be involved in its program. We want the coordinating committee to explain why it demeans women”? The angry female legislator said

Members of the coordinating committee which is in charge of  organizing the party outreach program include Najjemba Muyinda,Justine Kasule Lumumba,Robinah Nabanja,Alinaitwe Rwakajara,David Bahati and Evylne Anite.

Meanwhile the government chief whip Kasule Lumumba told parliamentary reporters that, this outreach program is intended to campaign for president Museveni for the 2016 national elections since NRM party endorsed him in Kyankwanzi as a party flag bearer.

We shall also use this retreat to give accountability of two and a half years ever since we were voted in the office to voters and to explain to them what government has done and what it intends to do to her people. “We shall hold meetings at sub-counties for one month and we shall report back to caucus “Lumumba said. She also added that, “We shall discuss all Kyankwanzi resolutions to voters and we shall explain to them why we endorsed president Museveni to be the party flag bearer come 2016”.
