If government fails to fulfill its promise of raising the teachers’ salaries in the next financial year, teachers have vowed to lay down their tools.

The teachers under the Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) say, they have been patient with government to gradually increase their pay and if this is not fulfilled, they will not hesitate to lay down their tools.

This was revealed by the UNATU general secretary, James Tweheyo while appearing before parliament’s Public Service and Local Government committee on Tuesday.
