The ruling National Resistance Movement Party has denied reports that its pushing for the extension of the 2016 general elections.
Addressing the press at the party headquarters Kyadondo, the spokeswoman of the party, Mary Karoro Okurut said that government is not behind the move and is ready with the cash to fund the elections of both Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government elections come 2016. “The government is not in any crisis, the elections will be held as planned” she said
Nakifuma County MP Ssekitoleko Kafeero (Independent) is pushing for the extension of the election date, citing insufficient funds due to the cut of donor aid.
