Makerere University will today elect its new Guild President. The eight candidates competing for the top post yesterday held their final rally at the freedom square ahead of the elections.  However the major competition is between Ivan Bwowe, a third-year Law student and Sarah Aseru, a second-year student of Industrial and Organisational Psychology.

Other candidates in the race include; Lillian Aber of FDC (Complex hall) and Phillip Musiime (NRM/Nsibirwa hall) . Others are Sam Komakech (Nkrumah hall), Nicholas Nanyeenya (Nsibirwa), Eddy Kintu and Julius Tabaaro.

Over 35,000 students are expected to take part in the  voting exercise from their respective halls of residence, according to Michael Opoya ,the  spokesperson of the university electoral commission
