The death toll in last Saturday’s boat accident in western Uganda now stands at 108 from the first recorded 19.Relatives of the deceased who are yet to be identified from the lake remain camped at the lake shores waiting for their bodies.
The commissioner for refugees from the Ministry of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, David Kazungu, said on Monday that 83 bodies had been retrieved from Lake Albert as of Monday afternoon.
The boat carrying refugees mostly from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) capsized in the lake along the border of Uganda and DRC early Saturday.
45 people survived the incident .The exact number of those who were on board is still unknown.
