President Yoweri Museveni has said that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces will stay in South Sudan because they are still needed there.

Museveni told NRM MPs at the ongoing retreat in Kyankwanzi yesterday that the UPDF has been fighting alongside the South Sudan army against rebels linked to former Vice President, Riek Machar.

He noted that there is still need for stability in parts of South Sudan though some parts have been recaptured from the rebels.

The UPDF has been fighting alongside the South since war broke out in the youngest state in December last year.
