The Executive Secretary of the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has revealed that the 2013 Primary Seven Examination results (PLE Results 2013) may be released on January 30 –Thursday next week.
In a statement issued to the press on Wednesday, Mathew Bukenya dismissed reports that UNEB scanners used in compilation and computation of final examination results had crashed, adding that marking of examinations and processing results at the Secretariat was ongoing on smoothly.
Mr Bukenya was referring to reports made by the UNEB chairman this week that the UNEB scanners crashed again noting that there may be a delay in entering some results.
“The process is going on steadily although we got a technical hitch. Our scanners crashed again and there has been a delay in entering some results.” He noted
The UNEB secretary however stated that; “The scanners used at UNEB are never used for compilation and computation of results. They are used only for capturing results from optical mark reader sheets. At the time of doing this the scanners never crashed and are working well,” he said.
He however noted that the release of funds to run the marking exercise this year had caused some delays.
“As soon as the funds were received, marking of UACE examinations started immediately and some of the UACE examiners have completed and are beginning to leave marking centres,” he said.
UNEB has in the past years released PLE results in mid-January, followed by Senior Four and Six .The deadline has not been observed this year.
