South Sudan President Salva Kiir never wrote to Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni asking him to deploy UPDF forces in his war troubled country.
This was revealed by the Speaker of the South Sudan Parliament Manaseh Magok Rundial, who made it clear that President Kiir asked Museveni for military assistance verbally. Addressing journalists in Kampala on Friday, the Speaker noted that no letter was written in the arrangement.
Ugandan parliamentarians have been pressing officials from Uganda’s Ministry of Defence to provide the letter President Kirr wrote to President Museveni asking for assistance.
On Thursday the two warring parties in the South Sudan conflict agreed to a ceasefire agreement. The conflict has caused the death of hundreds of innocent civilians and displacement of thousands.
