The king of Buganda Kingdom (Kabaka) Ronald Muwenda Mutebi on Monday started his three day visit to Bugerere County.
The king aims boosting harmony with people in the disputed county and extending a hand in terms of development. He will commission schools, churches and launch a tree planting campaign.
In 2009, the Government blocked Kabaka from visiting Kayunga because some people in support of the Banyala chief were opposed to the visit. The Banyala claim independence from Buganda Kingdom, yet the kingdom insists that the county is recognized under it.
Despite the differences, government this time gave a go ahead to the visit with the help of the area legislators like Sulaiman Madada and Minister Aidah Nantaba.
On Monday morning, residents were seen lining up along Kayunga Road to welcome the King. Others were dancing, drumming and singing. Police have deployed heavily to guarantee security and terrorism acts.
