18 people were killed and more than 45 injured in a stampede in Mumbai on Saturday morning.
The crowd of members of the Dawoodi Bohra community—a Muslim sect with followers around the world were gathered at the residence of their leader, Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin .
Mr. Burhanuddin died on Friday morning aged 102 .Followers started gathering at his home from Friday afternoon.
An official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the civic body responsible for the city’s governance told the press that the stampede started sometime after midnight.
Police say, they are still investigating what triggered the tragedy.
