The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon.Rebecca Kadaga has announced new measures that will improve the speed at which Parliament Committees complete assigned tasks.

Addressing legislators at the end of year party for the Ninth Parliament hosted in the new Parliament parking complex on December 19, Speaker Kadaga noted that some committees had failed to work within the legal time frame.

“Honourable Members as you may be aware there is still some pending business before the Committees. I will be enforcing the 45 day rule for bills referred to all Committees,” the Speaker told Members.

Hon. Kadaga also announced a ban on travel out of Kampala for Committees of Parliament, rescheduling these filed visits to weekends.

She rallied Members of Parliament to work tirelessly to ensure that all pending business is completed during the third session that ends in May next year.
