Kabila’s government killed at least 40 of the 70 terrorists who tried to overthrow Joseph Kabila on Monday .

The terrorists forced their way into the government television -Radio Télévision Nationale Congolaise (RTNC) premises in Kinshasa and read out the statement written by Joseph Mukungubila Mutombo over the takeover of government.

Lambert Mende, the DRC’s information minister, also said the international airport and the main army base had also been attacked by the group armed with machetes and guns.

Mr Mende said no civilian casualties and security officials were recorded in the attempted coup.

In a televised message, the information minister added that the “aggression” was aimed at terrorizing Kinshasa citizens.

DRC’s president, Joseph Kabila, is the son of Laurent Kabila who was installed in government after Rwandan-backed troops ousted its long-serving dictator Mobutu Sese Seko in 1997.
