University vice chancellors have called upon government to set up a special fund for universities that will act as a financial basket for the institutions.
Speaking ahead of the 3rd national vice chancellors forum slated to take place on Friday this week in Kampala with the Theme Higher education system in Uganda, the chairperson on the vice chancellors forum professor Badru Katetegga revealed that ,the special fund can be used to extend financial support to the institutions in the country as they foster development in education especially higher education
He also stated that, there is great need to change the education system of the nation to have a better one that suites the economy and its needs.
At the forum vice chancellors from the 36 universities discuss issues of how to improve education standards at universities in the country.
Professor Kateregga further noted that during the 3rd Uganda Vice chancellor’s conference, they will discuss the policy of higher education in Uganda and regulation of higher education.
So many dignitaries are expected to attend the conference including the minister of education Jessica Alupo and the chief guest will be the country director of world bank.
