Uganda’s Thomas Ayeko emerged winner of Sunday’s Birmingham half marathon .
Ayeko who was 11th in the World 10,000m in Moscow this summer, finished just over half a minute ahead of runner-up Chris Thompson with 62:32.
The 21-year broke away from them with about 3km left to win in a time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 33 seconds.
Chris Thompson from United Kingdom finished second after clocking 1;03.04 followed in third spot by Abraham Abdirahman from USA who took a time of 1;03;09.
Australia born Collins Birmingham finished fourth with Tariku Bekele of Ethiopia came fifth with a time of 1;04;35.
Ayeko wants to emulate Stephen Kiprotich who has so far won two gold medals .
