The Ugandan police has issued a red alert over another terror threat on Uganda’s Capital Kampala.
The red alert comes after the American Embassy in Uganda sent a notice to its citizens, warning of a possible Westgate style attack in the city.
Uganda Police Spokesperson Judith Nabakoba told the press yesterday that with the highest form of police notice issued, more police officers will be deployed in different areas. This will involve a recall of those officers on leave while none will be granted leave until further notice.
She added there will be more surveillance in major shopping malls and bus and taxi parks, though the information shared by the embassy does not include information on timing and location of the attack.
Police will also have the authority to search anyone believed to be a security threat.Public events like Music concerts will only be allowed if they involve police, the police spokesperson added
