Residents of Sembabule district are leaving in fear after being warned by security officials that there are rebels based in Democratic Republic of Congo recruiting in the area.The security officials believe it is M23 and ADF rebels.
The District Internal Security Officer (DISO), Capt Muwanga Lutaaya told the local media that they already have information about one woman believed to be leading the recruitment exercise .
Last week, the police also said it had arrested a Ugandan national who was trafficking people into the DRC for recruitment into an unnamed rebel group.
The suspect was detained at the Uganda–DRC border post of Bunagana with about 12 youths whom he had promised good jobs in the mineral rich country.
Last months ,a young man from Lugusuulu sub-county identified as Francis Tumusiime was rescued from rebel captivity in eastern DR Congo.
