Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame is celebrating 56 years today . He was born on October 23, 1957 in Ruhango District, Rwanda.
He spent his childhood and attended school in Uganda before going back to Rwanda and later becoming the Head of State.
He took over office in 2000 when his predecessor, Pasteur Bizimungu resigned making him the sixth President of Rwanda.
As president, Kagame has prioritised national development, launching a programme which aims to transform Rwanda into a middle income country by 2020. As of 2013, the country is developing strongly on key indicators including health care and education; annual growth between 2004 and 2010 averaged 8% per year.
Kagame has had mostly good relations with the East African Community and the United States, while his relations with France were poor until 2009.
He married Jeannette Kagame in 1989 and they have two Children,Ange and Cyomoro Kagame.
