Teachers have been given up to Monday to report on their workstations or else face the law.
Addressing news conference at the Uganda Media Center on Thursday the Minister of Education and Sports Jessica Alupo said the Attorney General and his team are studying the situation and he will advise accordingly.
“With government there is nothing it does outside the law. Since the teachers are part of the Civil Service they will be handled as the law requires at an appropriate time. We don’t have to remind the teachers about the law, they are well educated and know the provisions of the law” she added.
In response to the order ,James Tweheyo the Secretary General of Uganda National Teachers Union (UNATU) said that they will only call off the strike after receiving the promised increment.
