Several bridges in Amuru district are reportedly broken down after a heavy down pour over the weekend.
The bridges have been identified as Omee 1, Apaar Bridge, Olik, and Olwal bridges which are all in Amuru district.
The breakdown of bridges has hindered the movement of traders in Amuru district as many of the residents swim to cross the rivers.
Some of the bridges were built in the early 1950s and have never been repaired.
James Kilara the Amuru sub county chairman confirmed the challenges saying that most of the bridges need to be repaired.
Kilara also noted that some of the bridges which were built of recent need to be rehabilitated because they cannot contain the volume of water during rainy seasons.
Engineer Jimmy Adwek the Gulu office Uganda National Roads Authority station said that they were still waiting for funds from the Ministry of Works to carry out the repairs.
