The Ugandan Police has heavily deployed in all city malls and public places following an attack on Nairobi’s Westgate Shopping Mall over the weekend.The attack has left more that 68 people dead and more than 100 injured.
The Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihira said over the weekend that ,what happened in Kenya can happen anywhere.
” What has happened in Kenya can happen in anywhere .As such ,we are now going to take over security of many of these places” He told a press briefing
So far officials in uniform and plain clothes have been deployed in many public places.Police say there will also be heavy deployment in big markets and supermarkets.
Police has asked the public to be vigilant and respond to the police’s security orders.
“Always be suspicious of strange people and objects ,armed or unarmed .It is because of this that Uganda has continued to survive” said Metropolitan Police Commander ,Andrew Kaweesi
He also warned the public against taking police security orders for granted .
Security on Busia and Malaba borders has been tightened.Peter Kakonge the Malaba region police commander says ,they have not yet received any threats ,but says they have been alerted to stop any possible entry of terrorists.
