A hunt for the world’s ugliest animals brought to the table some of the ugliest animals in the world to the table.
The competition, staged by the Ugly Animal Preservation Society sought to raise awareness for the endangered species. The blobfish, also known as Psychrolutes marcidus was voted the winner of the contest.
More than 3,000 votes were cast in the online competition, with 795 for the blobfish. “We’ve needed an ugly face for endangered animals for a long time and I’ve been amazed by the public’s reaction. For too long the cute and fluffy animals have taken the limelight, but now the blobfish will be a voice for the mingers who always get forgotten,” Ugly Animal Preservation Society president, Simon Watt.
