Members of Parliament have been tasked to recommit themselves to the fight against HIV/AIDs amidst reports of resurgence of the scourge during the last decade.
The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga and the UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe told MPs that political will and the support of leaders at all levels are key in the campaign to reduce the spread of HIV.
The speaker highlighted the need for Uganda to change its strategies in this fight at a dialogue with MPs at Parliament September this week .
“All of us must accept that not enough is being done. We need to restrategize and refocus our energies so that messages can go to the people who need them and we save our people,” she said.
The Speaker also reaffirmed the need for all leaders to play a positive role in pushing the HIV/AIDS messages to the communities.
