Kenyan television anchor, Ruhila Adatia was among the dead in the Kenya Westgate Mall attacks which claimed the lives of 68 and injured 175.
Adatia died Saturday while hosting a cooking competition dubbed Sungold Sunrice Superchef. She was shot by one of the gunmen who attacked Westgate Mall and died. A host of E News, Adtia was also a radio host on East FM and celebrity news reader for Kiss FM. Upon learning of her death, co-host on the Drive Show, Cena Vikash Pattni said, “I really don’t know what I will do without you Ruu!! Less of a co host more of my elder sis who really loved and cared for me. May your soul be liberated and you get eternal peace.”
Kamal Kaur, who was at the cooking competition with Ruhila, wrote” “…I have lost a dear colleague who was pregnant. She just took Sapna’s baby cradle last week to start getting things together for the arrival of her baby. I don’t know what to do or say. I still haven’t told my children that their Ruhila Auntie is no more. I don’t know how to. I can’t. They’re still in shock & wounded.”
Shiksha Arora, who was in the last photo posted by Ruhila on Instagram, wrote: “Who knew the last photo you posted would be your last instagram photo with me. Ruhila my favourite person in radio you really didn’t deserve this. The most bubbly, cheerful and lively radio presenter ever to know. You always took my side when Cena Pattni would start bullying me. You always gave me advice on how to go about things when I was sad and I could always come to you to tell you how I feel. You became not just my mentor but a friend whom I could talk to about anything and everything.
I now believe when you told me life is short and never to be upset about small things. I can’t even come to think of how much I will miss you. It still hasn’t sunk in that you’re gone… It all still seems like a bad dream and that I will wake up tomorrow and watch you walk In to the studio and you will remove a huge sandwich out of your bag and tell me to eat cause I haven’t eaten anything. Yesterday was horrifying and I was lucky to make it out of there alive but hearing to have lost you made it even worse. RIP Ruhila and the little unborn baby. We love you. Gone to soon.”
