The Katikiro of Buganda Owek Charles Peter Mayiga has urged graduates of Datamine to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired to create their own businesses/jobs because there is a lot of unemployment in the country.
Owek Mayiga who officiated the 10th anniversary and the 3rd graduation ceremony of Datamine technical business school at Makerere in Kampala said that, many grandaunts have the tendency of seeking for jobs after studies and forget to use the knowledge and skills they have acquired at universities to become job creators.
“I urge you all the graduates to use the knowledge and skills you have acquired here to create your own jobs because in Uganda, we have a huge problem of Unemployment. Datamine University has mentored you with skills of which you must use to shine in future” Katikiro noted.
He also said that Buganda government is committed to help and change the live of the young people. “The kingdom of Buganda appreciates Datamine University for having a vision for the citizens of this country especially the young people. We as Buganda government are committed to help young people for better future” He added.
Owek also said that the world must put much emphasis in health, education, employment, good governance and infrastructural services if it has to grow. “In Uganda we must put more emphasis in education, health and infrastructural services if we are to have a better future” He stressed.
Over 700 students have graduated in different courses which includes, accountancy, journalism and media studies, business computing, and human resource management among others.
