Brigadier Kasirye Gwanga says he would be willing to solicit votes for Brig .Muhoozi Kainerugaba if he contested for presidency .
In an interview with the local media last week ,Gwanga said that he is not at all opposed to the ‘Muhoozi Project’ .
“I, however, differ with Sejusa because I met President Museveni and we talked about Muhoozi and I told him face to face that I can only support this young boy and look for votes for him, if he does not come with your [Museveni] support because I and him both graduated from Sandhurst,” Gwanga said.
Gwanga also added that there is nothing he can testify against Gen Sejusa on calling for an investigation into the plot to kill those against the Muhoozi project .He said that the General was right to call for such since he is a coordinator of intelligence services.
“As far as I’m concerned, according to Sejusa’s documents released in the media, he has not announced any war against this government. According to what I recall, Sejusa wrote to ISO boss asking him to investigate claims of a plot to kill top government officials opposed to Muhoozi. To me, he was entitled to make such a demand because he was the coordinator of intelligence services,” Gwanga said.
In May this year ,the controversial army general (Gwanga) warned President Museveni against touting the idea of his son, Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, succeeding him as president, saying such a move would be met with stiff resistance from the military.
