Centenary Park’s hang out place, Barbeque Lounge has been closed, Ugandapicks has learned.
The popular hang out place for the elite has allegedly been closed due to noise pollution by environment group, National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA).
The place was stormed by NEMA officials last week on Friday and even confiscated its equipment among other equipment. According to sources, neighbors at Hotel Africana complained of the noise oozing out of the hang out place. The hotel said that they were losing customers because they were opting for other hotels which do not have noise from surrounding bars.
“Our hotel guests complain about loud music from Centenary Park. We have on several occasions appealed to the managers of these bars to ensure volume of their music is kept low in vain so we chose we seek NEMA’s intervention,” a source Hotel Africana said.
Barbeque lounge is owned by lawyer and presidential adviser, Elly Karuhanga.
