Bukanga MP, Matovu Gregory who died today morning is said to have died from throat cancer.
UP reporter, Juma Nsubuga said the deceased MP died at Nakesero hospital, not at home as previously reported. The cause of death was attributed to throat cancer which he has been struggling with for sometime.
It is said that he was first admitted at IHK, then transferred to Nakasero and then Case clinic where he was allegedly discharged yesterday. It is not yet clear when he was diagnosed with the disease although Nsubuga can affirm that he has been suffering from the ailment for sometime.
His body at the moment is still in the hospital although it might be taken to his home in Bunga.
The 58 year old MP of Bukanga County, Isingiro district in western Uganda belonged to ruling party, National Resistance Movement (NRM). He was a member of the Committee on Information and Communication Technology Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises.
Matovu’s death comes at a time when MPs are dying off. He becomes the sixth MP to die recently. The others who have passed away are: Michael Oromoit (21 July 2012), Cerinah Nebanda (14 December 2012), Eriya Kategaya (2 March 2013) Stephen Malinga ( 11 April 2013) and most recently Joy Kariisa.
