A woman in Akuya-Gweri Village in Soroti has been arrested for beating her son to death over the theft of an egg.
The woman identified as Selina Iyamat allegedly beat and grievously injured Emmanuel Ojur, leading to his death.
The Soroti police OC CID, Mr Ayub Waiswa confirmed the arrest of the accused. It is said that Emmanuel Ojur 13, picked an egg and boiled it on Tuesday, something that didn’t go well with his mother.
“We have been reliably informed that the accused used a mingling stick for unleashing her wrath on her son,” Waiswa said.
The area LC1 Chairperson, Mr William Enyasu said that what the woman did was not only cruel and shameful but had also led to the destruction of the family’s lineage.
“When a boy dies, it means the pillar of that family has been cut. She shouldn’t have used violence in this trivial matter,” Enyasu said.
