Following the passing of the Public Order Management Bill ,Uganda Human Rights Commission has come out strongly against the law and wants it recalled and amended to suite people’s rights.
The chairperson of the commission Med Sozi Kaggwa says that there are certain sections in the law that needs to be deleted before the bill becomes operational .He says that some clauses completely infringe on people’s rights.
He also noted that the legal and parliamentary committee did not incorporate the commission’s submissions into the law which in the end has made it anti people.
The commission further urged the president not to assent on that law until amendments are made.
