Two people are behind police bars in Rakai district for allegedly kidnapping a 38 year old man with the intention of sacrificing him.
Dick Muwonge and Bukenya Ssezaliyo, both residents of Kiwenda Village, Butiti Parish, Lwanda Sub County in Rakai district are accused of kidnapping Godfrey Ssekalo
It is alleged that Ssekalo was kidnapped on Friday last week on his way back home from the trading centre where he had gone to buy alcohol.
According to Nnalongo Annet Kakande, where Ssekalo has been working as a herdsman, a search for the missing man began on Friday.
She says that they reported the matter to village authorities who decided to mount a door to door search in the village and all bushes and forests in their area.
Kakande says that after Ssekalo’s abductors heard of the plan to search every house in the village they panicked and decided to release him before the hunt.
Ssekalo was found by a passerby lying by the roadside.
He was very weak and he could hardly walk on his own.
Ssekalo says that he was kidnapped by the duo and they had locked him in a dark room and did not give him any food during his captivity.
He led locals and police officers to the home of the suspects where he was confined.
Rakai District Police commander Nelson Sooma said the two men were arrested to help police with investigations into the kidnap.
He says that when investigations are completed Muwonge and Bukenya are likely to face charges of kidnap.
