By Emmanuel Okwii

The police in the Eastern district of Tororo have received training on how to handle situations of violence and terrorism.  The training that ended on Wednesday was meant to equip the police with security tips on identification of terrorists and how to counter any bomb threats.

The training which was organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the anti-terrorists department was undertaken under the Scanning, Analysis and Response Assessment model based on community policing.  It was also part of an initiative by the Uganda Police Force to educate the masses on the need for their involvement in fighting terrorism and terrorist threats.

The deputy RDC Tororo, Mr Bob Stanley Opio said that the training will be rolled out by the police to the communities in the district in their routine community police exercise so that the masses are made aware of terrorism and terrorist threats.

The police spokesperson for Malaba region Michael Odongo disclosed that once the strategy is popularized, then the fight against bomb threats would be made easier.
