Media houses in Eastern Uganda have gone awash with the news that the Soroti RDC is about to die. Though physically able and healthy, Mr Ben Etonu on Monday announced his own death; something residents say could be emanating from senility.
Mr Etonu said that he had already begun talking to God and that he had seen and dined with him in several dreams. He also said that God had been appearing to him on a regular basis recently, telling him to get ready.
“I want to tell you that my time has come. God has spoken to me and has told me to get prepared. I will now devote myself to training the youth to take over from me,” Etonu said.
Etonu made this revelation while in a meeting youths at Akello Hotel in Soroti town.
Residents of Soroti and Teso have of recent classified Mr Etonu as one of the cruelest, fiercest and the most violent of RDCs in Teso. They however say that the sudden twist in his behavior could be as a result of his age.
The RDC recently came to limelight when he slapped a mobile money booth attendant for allegedly stealing his money. Reports had it that the RDC while transacting mobile money had cancelled the transaction accidentally and when he checked his balance, he realized there was no money in his account. This prompted him to slap and strangle the unfortunate dealer.
