Youth MP representing Western region Gerald Karuhanga has today been thrown out of the legal and parliamentary affairs committee for conflict of interest.
Karuhanga a member of this committee was told to step out of the committee following his petition to the constitutional court against the reappointment of Justice Benjamin Odoki.
The committee was meeting the Judicial Service Commission on the appointment of Odoki ,of which the chairman of the commission, James Ogola, refused to answer any question raised by MPs in the presence of the media.
The chairperson of the committee Stephen Tashobya ordered the media to get out of the committee to enable Ogola answer question as far as the reappointment of Odok is concerned.
Hon Karuhanga says throwing him out of the committee, will not deviate the commission from its earlier advice to the president not to appoint justice Odoki.
Karunga and other MPs petitioned the constitutional court seeking its interpretation on the appointment of justice Odoki saying, it’s unconstitutional since he attained the retirement age of 70.
