The two weeks’ search for a missing boy in Ngora ended yesterday upon the discovery of his dead body in Agu swamp on Serere Road. According to the Ngora police, the case of the lost boy had been reported a fortnight ago and efforts to find him had failed.
The dead boy was identified as Jonah Eselu 3, a resident of Ngora Town council. It is also said that the boy’s parents had separated long ago with the father assumed to be in Tororo and the whereabouts of the mother yet unknown. The boy had been staying with his uncle, Mr Cuthbert Eselu.
The Ngora police OC CID, Mr James Okodel said that the boy’s body was discovered by fishermen.
“His body was recovered and taken to Ngora Freda Carr Hospital where postmortem reports revealed that he died of drowning,” Mr Okodel said. Mr Okodel also told parents and guardians to take good care of their children if such tragedies are to be averted.
Residents had prior to this discovery assumed that the boy had been sacrificed by ritualists.
