A man called police asking for a lift home with his children from a flyover.
Police at first refused but he promised to complain and threatened to call the Police and Crime Commissioner. He was granted his wish and was taken to the bus stop with his children.
The incident took place in Shoreham, West Sussex. “Clearly 999 is for use only in emergencies,” a police man said.
Street pastor Ian Chisnall, who stood for the Sussex Police and Crime and Commissioner post won by Tory Katy Bourne, said: “It was not an emergency, but full credit to the police. “They helped some children and deserve a gold star.”
