The army says that the embattled General ,Gen Sejusa who is in exile in London will face treason charges upon return.
The UPDF spokesperson ,Paddy Ankunda told the press on Tuesday that allegations made by the general on a plot to assassinate senior government officials (including himself) thought to be opposed to “the Muhoozi Project is treasonable .
“In fact, what he alleges is treasonable …,” army spokesman Paddy Ankunda said. “One of the possible charges is desertion if Parliament doesn’t give him more leave. Secondly, will be failure to protect classified documents and others will follow,” he added.
“We have heard that he has asked Parliament to extend his leave. We will see if Parliament will allow extension of his leave. In fact, it will be erroneous to extend leave of a person who has already declared to fight a legitimate government,” he said.
Parliament spokesperson, Helen Kawesa, said yesterday that the speaker will base on the law to either grant Gen Sejusa a leave extension or not.
