Residents in Elegu Trading centre have again run to Bibya another centre after their trading centre started flooding .
This is the second time in a period of less than one month for River Unyama in Elegu to burst its banks causing constant flooding in the trading centre.
Steven Odongkara, the Northern Highway Police commander confirmed to Uganda Picks that over 2km have flooded.
Odongkara said that most of the traders in Elegu trading centre are fleeing for their lives.
“The floods are as bad as the previous one. We are holding a meeting with the relevant authorities to see how there can be intervention”, Odongkara explained.
John Bosco Ocan, the chairman LC III for Atiak sub County in Amuru where Elegu is located blamed the traders for refusing to relocate to Bibya trading centre.
A few traders when contacted said they fear incurring losses adding that they could not relocate where their customers would not find them.
