Today, during a General Court Martial hearing, the fraud case in which Col. Shaban Bantariza is accused has been adjourned to September.
Col. Bantariza was arrested on Monday 1st July from his home in Bweyogerere over three counts of fraud. He is accused on charges of alleged mismanagement of money while still at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi where he was the director from 2007 and 2009 before being suspended. He was later released on bail.
The case was adjourned for a month to allow the state to assemble sufficient evidence and witnesses against him. Brig. Moses Ssentongo adjourned the case to September 26 after the state prosecutor, Capt. Fred Kangwamu requested that they should be given time to look for evidence against the newly appointed deputy director of Uganda Media Center.
