Four year old Nkaitole has created a bucket list, a list of things he wants to do before he dies.
Nkaitole lives in Amoboseli village in Kenya and came up with the bucket list for a Water is Life campaign aimed at advocating for safe drinking water in the village where one in every five children die before turning five due to unsafe drinking water.
“I’m going on an adventure,” he says of his first trip outside of his village. “Traveling across Kenya … doing all the things I’ve always wanted to do.” Nkaitole’s adventure was filmed as he did the things off his bucket list. “I flew like a bird,” he said of his first airplane flight.
The footage has a sad feel about it especially since it shows how a four-year old boy would love to have the chance to live past the age of five because most children die before turning five. Nkaitole raced against an elite sprinter, soared in a hot-air balloon, drove a race car, saw the ocean for the first time, and even ran along the beach.
The four-year old also received his first kiss from a girl. Producers hope the video will inspire people to donate to their effort to ensure that children, just like Nkaitole, enjoy access to safe water so that they don’t have to come up with bucket lists as young as four.
“One day I will be a Maasai warrior,” Nkaitole says.
