Leaders of trade unions have demanded the Minister of finance Maria Kiwanuka to remove the former commissioner for pensions in the Ministry of Public Service, Stephen Kiwanuka Kunsa from the board of Uganda Retirements Benefits Regulatory Authority.

During a consultation meeting on the retirement and pension sector bill currently before parliament’s finance committee, the leaders of trade unions from central organization of free trade Union (COFTU) together with the national organization of trade Union (NOTU) said that, they cannot allow some one that was implicated in the pension scam to be part of the regulators of the pension sector in the country.

The secretary general of the National organization of trade union (NOTU) Peter Werikhe says the current Board of the regulatory authority did not take up the interest of the workers, yet the workers need to have a say on their savings.

“We are demanding the minister to remove this man from the board because he was implicated in the pension money scam in the ministry of public service. The minister should replace this man with other people with intergrity.We will cannot allow this man to regulate us because he is a thief” We said.
