Japan’s nuclear power plant at Fukushima which was unstable for sometime after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that claimed the lives of many may be having problems after all.
It is suspected that the plant may be leaking radioactive water into the Pacific ocean although the plant’s operators deny the claims. The claims were made by Japan’s nuclear regulator.
According to officials from Nuclear Regulation Authority, a leak is “strongly suspected”. It went ahead and urged the plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. to determine where the water may be leaking from and assess the environmental risks. Since the plant operator deny the claims, the Authority on Wednesday revealed that it was going to form a panel of experts to look into ways to contain the problem.
