Nwoya district MP , who also doubles as the Minister without portfolio, Richard Toodwong has said that there are increasing numbers of Hepatitis B cases among the youth in Nwoya district.

Toodwong said that this is in addition to other increasing cases of Sexually transmitted diseases among the youth in the district.

He confirmed that most of the youth from Nwoya who were tested before being sent to work in Iraq were sent back because they had Hepatitis B viruses.

“The prevalence is much and I can assure you that out of every 10 tested 5 were found to be positive and they were all sent back to Nwoya”, Toodwong said.

The Minister also maintained that the most affected is Purongo Sub County.
